One of the first steps in hiring a commercial janitorial service for your office space or manufacturing site
is the initial walkthrough appointment. You will invite one, or multiple, companies to inspect your office,
learn about your cleaning needs, and provide you with a quote for the work. So, what should you expect
during this initial meeting?
Inspection
The company or person bidding the job will definitely need to see the space to be cleaned in person.
Providing details of the space and scope over phone or email beforehand is helpful, but even pictures
don’t show the full detail of the job. The office cleaner quoting the job will likely have follow-up
questions for you as well, such as the last time the space was cleaned, how regularly it was cleaned, and
any specific information that would be relevant to your site and the type of cleaning that needs to be
done.
Free Cleaning
At Otten Building Maintenance, we provide a free bathroom cleaning with every quote. We are
confident in our services, and know that you will be too, so this is a chance for us to show you the
quality and attention to detail that you will receive with every clean. There are no tricks or gimmicks, we
genuinely want to make sure that you are comfortable with our work, and know that you will be once
you see the results of our free bathroom cleaning. If your space doesn’t have a bathroom or doesn’t
need a bathroom cleaning, talk to us about an alternative space that we can service.
Setting Expectations
Once you’ve seen our work, you’ll likely have some questions for us. This initial appointment is a great
time to go over any questions or concerns that you might have. Additionally, this is an ideal time to
discuss project expectations with the perspective janitorial company. Things such as how often you want
your facility cleaned, what time of day works best for you, any areas that need special attention or
should be ignored, and add-ons (for example only wanting carpets or windows cleaned monthly or bi-
monthly) should all be discussed here.
Quote
Once you have covered all your basis surrounding the project, the prospective cleaning company will
provide you with a bid. This is often done on-the- spot, but can sometimes be provided later on if there
are specific considerations for the person bidding the project to get back to you on. A negotiation is
possible at this point if you and the company you would like to hire are in the same ballpark. You should
expect this whole process to take an hour or less.
Then comes the most important part, the company is hired and ready to work!
